Vintage Set of Four Dining Chairs in Silk and Glazed Oak, Sweden, 1960s
Interesting set of four vintage Swedish dining chairs with hand-glazed 'Verona green' oak frames, reupholstered with a lovely apricot colored Italian silk blend. The variegated silk material contains multiple tones which catch light in different ways, adding dynamism and complexity to the set's overall impression. Lovely hand-turned legs, strong proportions, and robust, mortise and tenon joinery throughout. The shape of the chairs is decidedly modern and unadorned, which contrasts against the early Renaissance color scheme, texture, and refined decoration. The resulting synthesis is unique and unexpectedly harmonious.
