Lovely early example of Kaare Klint's ever-popular "Safari Chair" in original cognac leather and stained Beech. Inspired by the collapsible Campaign chairs of English officers on the African Savannah, Klint designed his own modernized version of the antique seating concept in 1933. This example appears to be a fairly early production of the design, probably produced in the early 1940s. The tilting backrest makes for a uniquely comfortable seat, the sitter can sit upright, or almost completely reclined. Frayed manufacturer's mark to underside.
