Vladimir Kagan Coffee Table in Sculpted Walnut, Lucite and Brass, 1950s
Stunning vintage coffee table with asymmetrical 'boomerang' glass top supported by a sculpted walnut, brass, and lucite base attributed to Vladimir Kagan. Brass accent caps conceal the threaded screws that hold the lucite panel between the two fluidly shaped walnut pieces. This unique design gives the impression of an uninterrupted continuation of the walnut straight through the lucite panel, an exciting trompe l'oeil that lends to this piece an incredible poise, balance, and a sense that the top floats in space.
