Well-proportioned pair of vintage Scandinavian easy chairs in teak and wool by the celebrated Norwegian designer Fredrick A. Kayser (1924-1968). This iteration of his model 563 for Vatne Lenestolfabrikk, was likely modified for flat-pack export abroad, evidenced by the ingenious keyhole fittings joinery system which allows the entire piece to come apart into its individual elements. These chairs are also adjustable in use; a steel channel mounted to the frame allows the seat to slide forward and back, resulting in two possible seating positions one more upright, and one more reclined. The craftsmanship in the execution of these chairs leaves nothing to be desired; excellent timber selection, gracefully hand-shaped contours, and tight, strong joinery throughout.
